Summary of Regulation

Following the January 2024 restrictions on dependants for taught masters, the Home Office is extending the restriction to selected research masters programmes. PhD candidates remain able to bring dependants.

Effective for CAS assigned from 1 October 2026.
PhD, research doctorate and government-sponsored students exempt.
Existing dependants can extend in line with the main applicant.
